Lillo Ciaola

Biography

Lillo Ciaola is a young Sicilian artist born in 1986. The ability of this artist lies in projecting classical sculptures in current situations, similar to our contemporaneity then contrasting the immaculate color of the white marble sculptures with the bright backgrounds with saturated and intense colors. We will then find a group of statues spending a summer afternoon on the pedal boat, or an angel stretching out his clothes or even a Greek deity playing tennis. In fact, these works tell of our daily lives, but instead of common protagonists Ciaola decides to make the classical deities more similar to us by lowering them into the modern era and our routine, absorbing the strengths and weaknesses of the typical costumes of our contemporaneity.
